Rolla Missouri
Rolla is the county seat for Phelps County Missouri. This area is commonly referred to as the “Ozarks” mainly because it is located in the Ozark Plateau. Rolla Missouri is quoted to be in “the middle of everywhere” This is because people are able to get to larger cities such as St. Louis, Jefferson City, Colombia, and Springfield within two hours or less. Rolla is located off of I-44 and also has two major highways US 63 and MO Highway 72 going through the city.
There are several beautiful attractions to visit in Rolla, Missouri. Rolla has several recreational parks including Lions Club Park, Ber Juan Park, Schuman Park, Coventry Park, Buehler Park, Ridgeview Park, and Lane Springs. These areas are suited for relaxation, fishing, hiking, bike trails, walking trails, and site seeing.
The estimated population in 2006 was 17,985 and growing. The estimated median household income for 2005 was approximately $28,000. The two largest employers in the area are the Phelps County Regional Medical Center and the Missouri University of Science and Technology.
